A host is a server in your workspace. It records how to reach the machine and which credential to use. Hosts belong to a workspace, so everyone with access to a workspace can see and connect to them.
Add One Host
Select Hosts in the left navigation. Choose Enter manually.
Enter the Hostname / IP. This is the only required field.
Add a Display name if you want something friendlier than the address in your list.
Set the Connection type to SSH for Linux and Unix, or WinRM for Windows. The Port fills in automatically.
Choose a Credential, or click Add credential to create one inline.
Click Test Connection, then Add Host.
Adding Multiple Hosts
You can bulk add multiple hosts by choosing Upload inventory file. This allows you to import your host list from a CSV containing host and connection details.

Test Connection
Luumen authenticates to the host with the selected credential and reports success or the exact error text. Test Connections works for SSH only. On a WinRM host, the button reports that connection testing is currently only available for SSH hosts. You can verify a Windows host by connecting to it.
Edit a Host
Click a host in the list to open its details. Click Edit. You can manage:
Connection: Display name, Hostname / IP, and Port.
Authentication: the Credential, a Mark as jump host switch, and a Jump host selector for routing this host through a bastion.
Organization: Tags and Host Groups.
Luumen identifies a host by address and port together, so the same machine on two ports can be recorded twice without conflict, and re-adding an address that already exists on the same port is refused as a duplicate.
Host Details
Field | What it accepts |
Hostname / IP | A DNS name, an IPv4 address, or an IPv6 address in brackets. A port may be appended, for example |
Display name | Up to 120 characters. Optional; the address is used when blank. |
Connection type | SSH or WinRM. When you connect, the credential's protocol takes precedence, so an SSH credential cannot be used on a WinRM host or the reverse. |
Port | 1 to 65535. Defaults to 22 for SSH and 5985 for WinRM. WinRM accepts only 5985 (HTTP) or 5986 (HTTPS). |
Credential | Any credential you can see whose protocol matches. |
A host saved without a credential is fine, but its connect action reads "No credential assigned. Assign one to connect" until you attach one.
A Note on Environments
Luumen has no separate environment field. Use a tag such as production, or a Host Group named for the environment.
