LuumenAI usage is metered in AI credits. Every plan includes a monthly allowance for each person, and organizations can buy more.
How AI Credits Are Consumed
Credits are consumed per task: one complete exchange where you ask something and LuumenAI does the work to answer. A task covers your question, its reasoning, any commands it runs after your approval, the output it reads back, and its final answer.
A quick question costs less than an investigation that runs several commands and reads a lot of output. Running a Skill is one task per run, regardless of how many steps it contains, and a Skill goes straight to the commands it needs rather than working them out each time. For work you repeat, such as a pre-patch check or a health check, saving the process as a Skill makes cost predictable: the same task, at the same size, every run.
Connecting to hosts, managing hosts and credentials, working in a terminal session, and copying snippets consume no credits. Only LuumenAI tasks are metered.

Member Credits and Team Credits
Member credits come with your plan. Each person gets their own monthly allowance, and it resets at the start of each billing month. Unused credits do not roll over.
Team credits are bought separately and shared across the organization. They are used automatically once a person's monthly credits run out, and they never expire.
Luumen uses your member credits first and falls back to the team pool.
AI Credit usage can be viewed in Plans & Billing in Settings.
When AI Credits Run Out
If both pools empty mid-task, the task you are in finishes. You will not get a half-written answer or a Skill that stops between steps. After that, LuumenAI pauses until your monthly credits reset or someone tops up the team pool.
Check Usage and Buy More AI Credits
Open Settings, then Plans & Billing, and find AI Credits. Member credits lists each person's usage against their allowance, for example 116 of 4,500, with a Reset date beside it and a per-member breakdown. Team credits shows the shared pool.
Owner and Admin roles can purchase additional team credits by clicking Buy Credits. Team credits never expire.
Member roles cannot purchase additional AI credits, but they can request more.
Reduce Credit Use
Ask specific questions. "Show the top ten processes by memory" is one task. "Why is this server slow?" may take several rounds.
Use Skills for repeated work. A Skill already encodes the right commands and skips the exploration.
Buy ahead of a known spike, such as a patch weekend. Team credits do not expire.
